Your first call
Your number already rings a person. Make a test call, see where it went, and change where calls go when you're ready.
You don't have to build anything for your first call. A new number already rings a person, so you can test it as soon as your account is live.
Where calls go today
Every number uses your org's Default flow. Unless you changed it, that flow rings your lowest-numbered user extension, for example 101. That extension rings the phones on its Ring order tab, such as the phone in your browser, the apps and a desk phone, in the order you set there. See Extensions and devices.
Texts to the number go to the shared Text Messages inbox. See Where texts go.
Make a test call
- Open the phone in your browser. Click the phone bar at the bottom of the left-hand menu. The first time, click Allow when the browser asks to use your microphone.
- Call your Hey Quad number from another phone, such as your mobile.
- Answer it. It rings the extension from the step above. If that's your extension, it rings you.
- Check that you can hear each other, then hang up.
- Find the call. It's in the phone's Recents tab and in Reports → Call history.
If it didn't ring, see Calls aren't ringing. If you hear nothing, or only one side can hear, see No audio or one-way audio.
Change where calls go
When you're ready, point the number somewhere else.
- Open Phone numbers and click the number.
- Under Routing, pick where calls go: one person's extension, a queue for a team, your AI receptionist, or a call flow you built or picked from Templates.
- Call the number again to check. The new routing works right away.
To make your choice the starting point for numbers you buy or port in later, set it as the Default flow on the Phone numbers page. That doesn't move numbers you already have.
Next steps
- Answer calls away from your desk with the mobile app or the desktop app.
- Let the AI receptionist answer when no one can.
- Add a "press 1 for sales" menu with Build a phone menu (IVR).
- Do something different after hours with Business hours and holidays.
