Business hours and holidays
Set your opening hours and holidays once, then use them for numbers, extensions, call flows and the AI receptionist.
Business hours tell Hey Quad when you're open. You set them once, and the rest of Hey Quad uses them: a number or an extension can send callers to voicemail after hours, a call flow can take a different path when you're closed, and the AI receptionist knows whether you're open right now.
Set your timezone
Open Settings → General and choose your Default timezone. Hours sets use it unless you give a set its own timezone. New users also start in this timezone.
Set your hours
Open Settings → Business hours. You'll see a list of hours sets. Each set is a weekly schedule plus holidays. One set is the default.
Most businesses need only one set. Add more if parts of your business keep different hours, like "Sales hours" and "Support hours".
- Click the set to edit it, or click New hours set.
- On the Hours tab, tick each day you're open and set the open and close times.
- Add a second window on the same day for a lunch break.
- Use Copy to… to copy a day's hours to All days, Weekdays or Weekends.
- A window that closes before it opens, like 22:00 to 02:00, runs past midnight.
- On the Holidays tab, click Add holiday and pick the date. You're closed all that day. For a half day, add hours to the holiday.
- On the Settings tab, give the set a name. You can also give this set its own timezone, or leave it to Inherit organization default.
- Click Save changes (or Create set for a new one).
Each set shows Open now or Closed now, so you can check your work.
Use your hours
After hours on a phone number
On Phone numbers, click a number. Under After hours, choose a voicemail box. Outside your hours, calls to that number go straight to voicemail.
After hours on an extension
Open the extension's Ring order tab. Turn on After hours: send callers straight to voicemail, then pick the schedule. Organization default hours uses your default set.
In a call flow
Add a Check business hours node and pick the hours set. The flow then follows one of these paths:
- Open: you're open right now.
- Closed: outside your hours.
- Holiday: closed for a holiday.
- Error: the hours set couldn't be found, for example because it was deleted.
Connect each path to what callers should hear. See Call flow how-tos.
With the AI receptionist
Turn on the receptionist's Check business hours tool. It then knows whether you're open and can tell callers.
Common questions
- Calls go to voicemail during business hours. Check the timezone on the set, and check for a holiday on today's date.
- I deleted an hours set. Anything that used it falls back to your default set. You can't delete the default set until you make another set the default.
