What is a seat

A seat is a user extension with at least one enabled device. Here's how seats are counted and priced — phone service plus the platform, with the taxes and fees for your service address on their own lines.

A seat is the billing unit for Hey Quad: one user extension with at least one enabled device attached to it. A desk phone and a softphone assigned to the same extension still count as one seat — the seat follows the extension, not the device.

What counts as a seat

  • An extension with a physical desk phone
  • An extension with only a browser softphone
  • An extension with both a desk phone and a softphone

An extension with no device enabled does not bill as a seat.

How seats are priced

Seats are billed monthly in advance. Your quote sets the seat price, and each seat is two parts:

  • Business phone service. Calling, texts and numbers, 911 service, call routing, IVR, queues, voicemail and recording.
  • Hey Quad platform. The CRM, the shared inbox, calendar and booking, analytics, the apps and storage.
  • Taxes and fees for your service address, each on its own line: for example a state and local communications tax and a 911 fee per phone number, depending on where the business is.

The phone service and the platform are fixed prices for your term; the taxes depend on your service address. Your quote shows every line before you sign, and your invoice shows the service subtotal and the taxes and fees adding up to the total. Your Billing page shows your seat price.

If your account is under a 12- or 24-month agreement, your committed seat count is a billing floor: you can add seats at any time, but the bill never drops below the committed count until the term ends. See Quotes and agreements for how terms work.

Where to see your seats

Settings → Billing & package shows your current seat count and your seat price (phone service + platform) in the Plan section. Adding or removing an extension's device changes your seat count starting from your next invoice.
