What is a seat

A seat is a user extension with at least one enabled device. Here's how seats are counted and priced — $15 phone service + $12 platform, plus Florida taxes and fees.

A seat is the billing unit for Hey Quad: one user extension with at least one enabled device attached to it. A desk phone and a softphone assigned to the same extension still count as one seat — the seat follows the extension, not the device.

What counts as a seat

  • An extension with a physical desk phone
  • An extension with only a browser softphone
  • An extension with both a desk phone and a softphone

An extension with no device enabled does not bill as a seat.

How seats are priced

Seats are billed monthly in advance. The standard seat is $15 business phone service + $12 Hey Quad platform = $27 a seat, plus Florida taxes and fees:

  • Business phone service — $15.00. Calling, texts and numbers, 911 service, call routing, IVR, queues, voicemail and recording.
  • Hey Quad platform — $12.00. The CRM, the shared inbox, calendar and booking, analytics, the apps and storage.
  • Florida taxes and fees, added to the phone service, each on its own line: the state communications services tax, your city or county's local communications services tax, and the Florida 911 fee ($0.40 for each phone number).

With one number per seat that comes to about $29.42 a seat in Tampa, and $28.57–$29.68 across Florida, depending on your local tax rate. The phone service and the platform are fixed prices; the taxes depend on your service address, and your invoice shows the service subtotal and the taxes and fees adding up to the total. If your organization has a price set by its quote or agreement, your Billing page shows that seat price instead.

If your account is under a 12- or 24-month agreement, your committed seat count is a billing floor: you can add seats at any time, but the bill never drops below the committed count until the term ends. See How to pay for the agreement terms.

Where to see your seats

Your Billing page shows your current seat count and your seat price (phone service + platform) in the Plan section. Adding or removing an extension's device changes your seat count starting from your next invoice.
